The foundation mare, KIRKBYS WHITEY – FM HSH (Bignalls Radiant – WH/unknown dam), was a grey mare foaled in 1954 and played a significant role in the early development of the stud. Whitey was a classic Stock Horse type, with a quiet temperament, and produced versatile horses with strong performance ability and trainable natures. KIRKBYS MERCURY – IM HSH
Mercury was by QUICKSILVER – FS HSH and out of KIRKBYS WHITEY – FM HSH, and was a sucessful mare across disciplines and was a fabulous family mare who won just about anything she competed in. Mercury had 10 foals, three colts, four fillies, and one gelding, proving to be an excellent broodmare. Her foals were:

Pearl was by KIRIBYS COBALT – IS HSH and out of KIRKBYS WHITEY – FM HSH) and sold for $1,750 at the 1979 Stanton Stud Sale. She doesn’t have any recorded progeny.
KIRKBYS CHARCOAL – HSH
Charcoal was by KIRIBYS COBALT – IS HSH and out of KIRKBYS WHITEY – FM HSH, although retained as a stallion, he doesn’t have any recorded progeny. .
