It was fabulous to see Hamilton Campdraft Victoria back — and what a cracker it was!
Not only was it the first draft of the season, but it also marked the debut run and first win for MCNAMARA CONBRACE and David Murphy. The pair hit the ground running, scoring an impressive 91 in their first round, then backing it up with an 83 in the final to take out the Palmers Transport Maiden A Campdraft. Conbrace was purchased at last year’s Dalby Sale for the record price of $170k…and she’s worth every cent! She has ability, type and pedigree, but she is just such a sweetie. A brilliant start to the season for this exciting new combination!
COOLUM OVATION—better known as Miss Consistency—lived up to her nickname once again, placing 5th in the Finchetts Maiden B. That makes eight placings from six campdrafts, and she’s improving all the time! Let’s hope she breaks this streak with a win soon!
Elvis and Murph made their debut together. The pair showed plenty of promise, making sold 22 yard scores—an encouraging start that highlights their potential. Although they couldn’t quite find a suitable beast to make an outside run this time, their teamwork suggests some great results are just around the corner.
Liz and KIRKBYS STUD MARVEL scored a 78 in the Maiden B—a personal best for this combination who have both just started drafting. Marvel’s natural ability and Liz’s growing confidence means they’ll compete at more upcoming events.
All in all, it was a rewarding weekend marked by progress and plenty of encouraging moments. Every run added to the team’s experience, reinforcing that patience and consistency are key. Spirits are high, and there’s plenty of excitement for what the next draft will bring.
